Globalization the EU and the Road to Serfdom

by Frank Lee from OffGuardian

It might be a good idea to start with some theoretical clarifications. Firstly, nationalism should not be confused with national sovereignty. Nations which are effectively ruled by outside agents – from Greece to Honduras – are not sovereign; they are colonies or vassals of some larger agency. And since they are not sovereign, the cannot be democratic, since decision making, and policies have been abrogated to an external ruling power. Secondly, nationalism: the term which in general is generally regarded as the all-weather bête noire by the orthodox left, can be and often is aggressive, racist, imperialistic, and so forth.

But this is only half the story and there are ample reasons to believe that this view is both simplistic and narrowly focussed; ‘nationalism’ can be either a reactionary or a radical/progressive force, depending on the local and political circumstances. This is simply an historical fact. The latter phenomenon is particularly true of those nations which struggled under the yoke of imperialism – from Algeria to Vietnam both ex-French colonies – and who actively engaged in national repeat, national, liberation struggles involving a broad coalition of political forces.

However, according to the conventional wisdom of the hyper-globalists both nation states and the whole concept of national sovereignty are now defunct. Their reasoning is based upon the following premises.

  1. Most products have developed a very complex geography – with parts made in different countries and then assembled somewhere else – in which case labels of origin begin to lose their meaning.
  2. Markets when left unfettered will arrive at optimal price, allocative, and productive efficiency.
  3. This means that capital, commodities and labour should be free to move around the globe without let or hindrance to achieve these goals.
  4. Any barriers to this process – capital controls, trade unions, exchange rate controls, welfare expenditures, minimum wage legislation, wages and even public goods – will result in price and allocative distortions. Q.E.D.

Such globalization (neo-liberalism writ large) has come to be seen and defined by its proponents as the ‘natural order’, almost a force of nature; an inevitable and inexorable process of increasing geographical spread and increasing functional integration between economic activities. This current orthodoxy goes by various other names, Washington consensus, market liberalisation, neo-liberalism and so on and so forth. In fact, there is nothing ‘natural’ about this stage of historical development, since the whole phenomenon has been politically driven from the outset. (Of which more later).

It is important to note, however, the difference between contemporary imperialism in its present stage – i.e., globalization – and the classical imperialism of pre-1914 vintage which preoccupied Hobson, Lenin, Bukharin and Rosa Luxemburg. Classical imperialism was characterised by a shallow integration manifested in arms-length trade in goods and services through independent firms and international movement of portfolio capital and relatively simple direct investment. Note also that the British state granted Charters to investment entities such as the East India Company and the British South Africa Chartered Company to ‘develop’ (i.e. exploit) these colonial possessions.

Thus, even at this early stage the British state actively intervened to facilitate and open up markets for British capital in India and Africa. This was the liberal epoch trade of the 19th century. Full-on globalization did not develop, however, due to inter-imperialist rivalries and mercantilist policies being carried out by the competing imperial powers (which eventuated in WW1). The opening up and liberalization of markets – which did not at that time occur – was and still is the conditio sine qua non for the development of full-blown globalization, which even today is nowhere near total…

Mystery Interpreter Worked for State Department, Hillary and Globalist NGO (AE video)

Translator at Donald Trump Jr. Entrapment Meeting Worked for State Department, a Globalist NGO and Hillary Clinton Directly and has a @state.gov Email Address

by Scott Creighton

“The narrative (Clinton’s set up Trump Jr.) appears to be untrue, but in some ways that’s beside the pointCNN

On Friday night Rachel Maddow was beside herself with glee.

She could finally report they had the goods on Donald Trump and he officially sold us out to the damn commies.

All these months she’s been making up connections from innuendo, inference and 6-degrees-of-seperation straw-men fairly tales about Trump’s “collusion” with the Russians during the campaign have finally paid off.

Sounding a bit like Di$info Jone$ she screeched “we have the documents!” and she went on to craft a lengthy tale about the two new participants in the Donald Trump Jr. entrapment sting.

Well actually, she only really talked about one, Rinat Akhmetshin, and she falsely described him as a KGB-linked Russian intelligence asset. He’s not. That’s a complete lie. In fact, Rinat a naturalized U.S. citizen who works as a lobbyist on several issues… one of which is near and dear to Hillary Clinton’s own heart. But more on that later.

The hyperbole and disinformation is so great right now, the New York Times described Rinat as a Russian spy and “master of the Dark Arts

The other participant in the meeting, one acknowledged as having been there by Rinat himself, was not named by Rachel last night. In fact, as a pretext to her rambling disinfo barrage about the other guy and how this all proves Trump and Putin are in bed together, she only said about this guy that “more would come out… BUT DON’T LISTEN TO WHAT ANYONE SAYS ABOUT HIM” and then she went on too say she would address him at a later date. Clearly she and her handlers want to wait to see what folks come up with this weekend.

The translator is Anatoli Samachornov and he’s connected to the State Department via contract, a globalist NGO, Hillary Clinton and (perhaps more importantly) her ongoing effort to repeal the Magnitsky Act of 2012… something she opposed from the beginning and something her husband got paid a lot of money from a Russian bank BECAUSE she opposed it.

Yep. The translator few MSM outlets are willing to name right now is actually a U.S. intelligence and State Department asset… not a Russian government or Putin one.

Let’s take a look at some of the players involved then get some more info on them and Hillary Clinton’s long history of opposing sanctions on Russia, getting paid by Russia and getting a good old pat on the back by Putin himself for all their “treasonous” efforts.

“NO FOUL PLAY WHATSOEVER”: Two More “Suicides” Linked to Clinton Corruption Investigations

by Scott Creighton

RIP Victor. You are missed.

What is the most dangerous occupation in America? Firefighter? Soldier of Fortune? Pre-K teacher? Honey Boo-Boo’s dietician?

Nope. Its being involved in any of a myriad of investigations into the corruption… of the Clinton crime-family.

No other job comes close.

Bill and Hillary have left a trail of bodies strewn across the country as they rose to power. Books have been written about all the unsolved murders and highly questionable “suicides” that follow their personal careers like zombie groupies. It’s a huge list and today we can add two more to it.

For the record, Seth Rich’s murder is still unresolved. He’s not one of the new ones by the way. I’m just putting that out there for folks.

The Declassified Russian Hacking “Intelligence” Report is Devoid of Any Evidence and Apparently Based on Previous Lies

by Scott Creighton

Yesterday (Friday Jan. 6th 2017) around 1pm, the Department of National Intelligence released their declassified report (PDF) on the Russian hacking story or the Russian “influence” story that has been taking shape here in the States surrounding Hillary Clinton’s crash and burn presidential campaign of 2016. At about the same time, a man got off a plane in Florida and took a gun from his checked bag and opened fire on people in the baggage claim area of an airport, emptying 3 clips before lying down on the ground and waiting to be arrested. That man claimed earlier that the CIA had been trying to force him to watch “ISIS” videos.

Each and every page of the declassified report contains in the top header an official disclaimer of sorts which reads:

“This report is a declassified version of a highly classified assessment; its conclusions are identical to those in the highly classified assessment but this version does not include the full supporting information on key elements of the influence campaign.”

Key here is the fact that the report contains no facts. None. Zip. Zilch. No evidence reported in the report whatsoever.

Also key is the word “assessment” and in the beginning of the declassified report, they take the time to explain that term:

“When Intelligence Community analysts use words such as “we assess” or “we judge,” they are conveying an analytic assessment or judgment. Some analytic judgments are based directly on collected information; others rest on previous judgments, which serve as building blocks in rigorous analysis

“(O)thers rest on previous judgements”. Got that? No evidence reported in this report and they tell you right off the bat that in all likelihood, this “assessment” is based on “previous” assessment, which as we all know, were bullshit. “Grizzly steppe” anyone?

Here is a little glimpse into some of those “previous judgements”:

this report is provided “as is” for informational purposes only. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) does not provide any warranties of any kind regarding any information contained within.”

The current assessment based in part on previous assessments which the intelligence services provide no “warranties of any kind” regarding the information they provided.

Got that? New bullshit based on piles of older, baseless bullshit.

Buried deep in various articles about the new release we find a little rational thought on this evidence. That of course is buried under tons of regurgitated, unsubstantiated accusations leveled at Vladamir Putin, Guccifer 2.0 and DCLeaks.

The report contains scant information on attribution
That may not be enough for some critics, who have been publicly calling on the intelligence community to release more information explaining how it linked hacking operations to Russia” The Verge

And by “scant information” they mean “no information”

“Some critics” may not find their baseless accusations to be “enough” to jump on the New McCarthyism bandwagon. How unfortunate. But apparently the Verge doesn’t mind Megaphoning Mockingbird fake news:

No. Putin Did Not Try to Thwart Hillary’s Candidacy Like She Did to Him in 2012. He Didn’t Have To

by Scott Creighton

Pussy Riot™  mission statement: When the world is being neoliberalized as fast as possible and the masters of the universe demand tribute from those seeking a place at the table, no effort to assist in that endeavor , no matter how sophomoric or insipid, no matter how ridiculous, no matter how contrived, shall go unrewarded. And Pussy Riot™ will be there to cash in

Not that long ago President Obama said that Russia and President Putin had tried to influence the outcome of our election process and that it was “unacceptable” behavior for a nation to attempt to influence the democratic process of other nations. Forget for a second that his evidence was so laughable that the Department of Homeland Security, the agency that cobbled it together, posted a disclaimer on the first page of the report that said it didn’t stand by a single shred of “proof” in it’s own report:

this report is provided “as is” for informational purposes only. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) does not provide any warranties of any kind regarding any information contained within.”

Let’s also forget for a moment the troubling rise of the New McCarthyism in America and the lynch-mob mentality that goes along with it.

Russia did not attempt to influence our election. They did not “hack” the DNC, Hillary Clinton’s illegal private email server nor the email account of the perpetually corrupt John Podesta. Even if they did, which they didn’t, all they did was expose the truth about these three deeply tainted entities. No one has disputed the authenticity of the leaks. They stand as an accurate representation of the level of corruption that exists in the fake left that is the unDemocratic Party of America these days. This is a footnote that gets lost in the discussion far too often these days.

Which leads me to ask one simple question: since when is it considered “unacceptable” behavior to expose the truth about corruption at the highest ranks in the American political system?

Oh, that’s right. President Peace Prize made it a priority to wage war on whistle-blowers throughout the duration of his tenure.

For all the McCarthyite efforts being put forward by the breathless ladder-climbers of the corporate propaganda mills which pass for “news organizations” these days I am often awestruck by those who seem to wish to demand their guests present a kind of American exceptionalism when it comes to comparisons between this fake news story about Russia “hacking” our democracy and the altogether too real history of our State Department and the CIA doing the exact same thing to other countries across the globe. The hypocrisy is simply stunning.  And that is  when a guest has the audacity to bring up said history, which doesn’t happen very often.

And that is to say nothing of Hillary Clinton’s effort to use “smart power” to thwart Vladamir Putin’s reelection in 2012. In the corporate media the silence is deafening on that subject.
