US security services behind Al Nusra (al Qaeda) offensive in Syria’s Idlib – Russian MoD

from RT

The Russian Defense Ministry says that, according to their data, an offensive launched by Al Nusra (al Qaeda) terrorists and their allies in Syria was orchestrated by the US security services, aiming at derailing the Syrian Army operation near Deir ez-Zor.

“According to our intelligence data, the offensive was instigated by the US security services to stop the successful advance of the government forces to the east of the [city of] Deir ez-Zor,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement, commenting on the incident.

The jihadists attacked the positions of government forces stationed to the north and northeast of the city of Hama on Tuesday in an attempt to break through the Syrian Army defenses into a designated de-escalation zone, the ministry said.

One of the major goals of the terrorists consisted in capturing a unit of the Russian military police monitoring the situation in the de-escalation zone, the ministry said.

The terrorists, however, failed to achieve their goals and their offensive was eventually repelled by government forces supported by Russian military aircraft.

Earlier, Russian officials already suspected the US of having links to some radical groups in Syria and even of attempts to let Al Nusra terrorists off the hook. On September 11, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the situation around the Al Nusra Front terrorist group remains “highly ambiguous” as it was repeatedly spared in the operations conducted by the US-led coalition and its allies.

Lavrov then condemned this situation by denouncing the actions of “some members of the US-led coalition that seek to spare Al Nusra” as “absolutely unacceptable.”

  1. The Russians, being incapable of appreciating the selfless efforts of the US to help the Kurds achieve independence in what needs to be their own state, are also unaware of the fact the US is also helping the moderate rebels achieve independence in what needs to be their own independent state. The Russians and their supporters cling to the false notion of the so-called national sovereignty of Syria, when in fact the victory of the democracy-loving forces (US, Israel and Saudi Arabia) will liberate the long-suffering Syrian people from the brutal dictatorship of Assad who gasses his own people. That last horrible fact is what animates Israel to help out: “never again!”
At this point there is no atrocity committed by Assad’s brutal regime that would surprise me, provided I read about it in a reputable source like CNN, Fox News and all MSM. I would very much like to know the status of newborns in incubators in the area controlled by the brutal regime.

  2. Ding, dong, ding, dong. Washington has been caught with its pants down. I hope its foreign policy becomes more discredited as a result. I’d also prefer for the “anti-Assad opposition” to eat humble pie instead of risk making the Fallout games a reality.

    • Yeah. Unfortunately Washington’s foreign policy has been pretty well discredited since the Ohio Wars in the 1790s. They just don’t seem to give a sheet.

And if Washington’s indifference to the effects of fallout from Fukushima and Hanford is any indication, they won’t hesitate to play Fallout games abroad.
