    • I guess the creative writing staff at the DHSFBICIANSA are busy writing and post dating links and comments for him. Good thing there are 900,000 Americans with top secret clearances. they’re just taking the “fake news websites” list and posting one link from each of em. could take a while

  1. Out of curiosity, what is meant by “Syria has dropped the U.S. dollar”? For decades Syria has used the Syrian pound as its currency. In 1947 the Syrian pound was pegged to the U.S. dollar, but this ended in 1961 (56 years ago). Incidentally Syria’s “crimes” include free college and health care for all (just like with Libya). If that isn’t pyoor ebil, I don’t know what is.

    • Syria’s “crimes” also include a failure to grovel to Israel. (Jordan, Egypt, and Yahudi Arabia are innocent of this “crime.”)

      • I saw Lindsey Graham on Tucker Carlson last night. He kept ranting about this BS and that BS. Said at one point we were going to go into Syria to fight “ISIS” and leave Assad alone, but then as he got heated, he was ranting again and let it slip that you can’t even think about getting rid of “ISIS” until Assad is gone. Tucker kept digging and Graham started going on and on about how the real problem is Iran and how we got to get rid of Assad so we can regime change Iran. Course, we all know how Israel wants to regime change Syria and Iran. It was like Bibi Nutenyahoo was channeling through Lindsey.

  2. “Today in Alexandria Egypt an explosion at St Mark’s Coptic Church killed 13 people. The Islamic State says it is behind the explosions. The group has recently targeted Copts in Egypt.”
    ~ BBC

Will Trump send more cruise missiles to Syria in response?

“ISIS”™ might as well be Martians. Only governments that are part of the Empire communicate with “ISIS.”™ The rest of us never get to see what “ISIS”™ says, or who they are, or where they are. “ISIS” is everywhere and nowhere, like Emmanuel Goldstein: The “ISIS” garbage has become so ubiquitous that it saturates all corporate media outlets; even the outlets in nations that are not full members of the Empire.

    • With ISIS I think we are finally really following the script laid out by Orwell in 1984. Fascinating to watch actually.

    • You’re dead wrong, Elizabeth. They also communicate with independent NGOs that carry out serious investigative work — best example, and one covered by Scott in the past — is SITE. This is a reputable outfit whose best known member, RIta Katz, manages to obtain videos from ISIS/ISL before they themselves have them.

  3. Syrians were also getting paid 11% interest on money in their savings account.

That’s 55 times more than my bank is paying on my savings.

    • oh yeah. all sorts of banking plundering available once they regime change the Syrians. Banking and other industries to pick clean. Free healthcare and education systems to privatize. The Clinton’s could hand over their agriculture industry to their friends, the ones that did such wonders for Haiti and other places. Lots of nationalized industries over there put on the closed markets and sell off for pennies on the dollar. I bet there are at least 50 technocrats with open ended one way business class airline tickets to Syria just waiting like vultures with their travel bag packed and waiting by the door.

    • Yeah – since 2009 banking in the US has been nothing short of the biggest crime in history.

    • Holy crap. Guaranteed interest on deposits in public banks? Better not give the riffraff any of these ideas that would victimize poor Wall Street. Think of all hedge fund vultures and asset strippers Goldman Sachs has to feed! if they’re put out of business, they might have to look for- oh, the horror- an honest living! Or they might concoct other nefarious schemes after their first defeat. All in the name of implementing their new high-tech feudalism.

  4. British Defense Secretary Michael Fallon says that Putin ordered the (non-existent) “chemical weapons attack” in Syria to distract from investigations into “Putin’s ties with the Trump cabinet.” That is, Trump’s missile attack boosted Trump’s popularity. Therefore Putin is behind it all. On 7 April 2017 MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell opened his show by saying that Putin orchestrated the (non-existent) “chemical weapons attack” in order to give Trump a reason to launch cruise missiles, and that Putin did this to help Trump. (These media assholes are paid millions per year to spew such garbage.)

    • Sounds like BS, but are you sure there was no attack at all? A few US paid mercenaries to pull off a real attack to justify a response would not probably cost much more than trying to fake one and the suffering and death caused are obviously not a consideration for the monsters of power and greed obsession.

  5. FAKE LEFTIST IN ACTION: Trita Parsi is founder and president of the National Iranian American Council, a group that is funded by rich Iranians in the USA who hated Ahmadinejad, and who want Iran to join the neoliberal Empire. Mr. Parsi claims that the Empire’s proxy war against Syria is a “civil war,” and that the Syrian government is “brutally bombing” its citizenry. Parsi says that the way to the way to get regime change is diplomacy, not cruise missiles. In this way he reinforces the Empire’s lies (“civil war” and “brutal bombing”) and therefore its war, while he poses as “pro-peace.” Web sites like Common Dreams love to reprint such trash. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-syria-strike_us_58e7f9cce4b058f0a02f4951

  6. @willyloman: Stephen Gowans published his first essay since March, an in-depth and sympathetic look at Washington and tel-Aviv’s attempts to undermine Syria through economic and military means alike, but almost smack in the middle, he inserted this garbage disinformation: “According to the intelligence agency, Turkey’s Reccep Tayyip Erdogan, a man infatuated with dreams of becoming a neo-Ottoman sultan, and himself an Islamist, was also a major backer.”[11] https://gowans.wordpress.com/2017/04/08/cruise-missile-attacks-a-new-step-in-washingtons-long-class-war-on-syria/
A Canadian leftist who prides himself on his nationality, yet here he is, regurgitating Paul Joseph Watson-level bullshit. “Sultan?” Turkey is still organized as a Republic, as far as I know. “Islamist?” Where’s the proof that Recep wants to implement Sunni sharia as THE law of the Turkish state? “Neo-Ottoman?” When Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan transform into Turkish protectorates, let me know. Elizabeth Harris is right that media repetition is extremely powerful, capable of confirming the worst nonsense as “The Truth”.

    • yeah, Erdogan is next on the list and they can never stop selling the narrative even as they work on taking out Assad. Also notice how often we keep hearing neocons bemoaning Iran as the “real” reason we can’t get rid of Assad right now. They are scheduled for after Erdogan. Left-leaning alternative media sites like mine tend to demonize Erdogan as a matter of course. I don’t know if it’s by neocon design or if they just don’t really understand because they focus on Syria, Libya and Yemen and haven’t done their homework. People who generally do really good work like Steven Lendmen do it all the time, though for him I think, he’s doing it less and less these days, so, I don’t know. All I can say is, challenge them when you see it. Leave comments asking questions about things like the referendum, like his wanting to be “Sultan”, stuff like that. Leave em links to articles that are more even handed and forward thinking like Penny’s or mine. Remind them that the same things were being said about Assad, about Gaddafi, about Saddam not that long ago before their respective “regime” changes took place and warn them that in the end, they are going to wake up and realize they’ve been played for years to get them to promote the same kind of illegal and immoral activity they’ve been exposing all this time in other nations.

  7. This could have come from “The Onion” blog. According to the neoliberal Breibart blog, mysterious “senior U.S. military officials” said they “suspect” that Syrian jets did the fictitious “Syrian government gas attack,” and that “there’s no credible alternative” to the fairy tale. (If they “suspect,” then it is a “fact.”) The mysterious “officials” admitted that they had “no knowledge of Russian involvement in the fictitious attack,” but they “suspect” that Russia helped. Therefore Russia must be held accountable. http://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2017/04/09/pentagon-lays-out-case-for-missile-strikes-against-syria/

Trump regime officials today demanded that Russia support the Empire’s worldwide operations for regime change, or else the Empire will get mad. Rex Tillerson said Russia bears at least partial responsibility for the Syrian military’s (fictitious) “poison gas attack.” Tillerson and Nikki Haley vowed that the Empire’s proxy war will continue until regime change is achieved. “In no way do we see peace in that area with Assad at the head of the Syrian government,” fumed Haley. On Tuesday, Tillerson will visit with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, who will agree to everything in words, while Putin says “Fu*k you” in actions.

    • isn’t it funny how suddenly Breitbart suddenly speaks in the language of the complicit MSM? “anonymous officials say…” “no credible alternative…” to thinking the way we tell you to think? I mean, I am not a fan by any measure and I don’t have to work hard to guess what position they took on “Gaddafi is a murderous dictator” or other regime change propaganda… but it is interesting to see just how establishment this “alt right” website has become. Same could be said for Di$info Jone$’ website, though that’s been pretty obvious for a while now.

  8. More from the Onion II (i.e. Yahoo): British “Defense” Secretary Michael Fallon supports the Empire’s proxy war on Syria, and says that Russia is responsible “by proxy” for the fictitious “gas attack” by the Syrian military. Fallon says that by resisting the Empire’s war crimes, Moscow is complicit in “war crimes.” He says Russia must “take action” (i.e. must surrender) to end “needless suffering” that the Empire is causing Syrian civilians. He says a Russian aircraft bombed a hospital shortly after the fictitious Syrian military “gas attack” in order to cover up evidence. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/fallon-russia-responsible-every-death-syria-gas-attack-042700826.html

  9. “The Golan Heights contributes a quenching one-third of Israel’s entire water supply. Its catchments leading to the Jordan River and Lake Kinneret – Israel’s main water source – receive long bouts of heavy rainfall, particularly during the colder months and occasionally during stormy season in the summer.

But the Golan Heights does more than just fill Israel’s many swimming pools. It also provides snow for Israel’s one and only skiing destination, the Mount Hermon Ski Resort. The mountain’s peak reaches 9232 feet above sea level and is Syria’s highest point – an altitude Syrians no longer get to enjoy…Then there’s the contentious matter of oil. The Golan Heights has long been speculated to be sitting on serious amounts of hydrocarbon, and recent discoveries have confirmed these theories. US company, Genie Energy, along with its Israeli subsidiary, Afek Oil and Gas, are currently in the process of drilling for what Israel’s Channel 2 headlined as “an amazing discovery in the Golan Heights”.

An “amazing discovery” it surely is. One that will profoundly benefit Israel for many years to come, as well as Genie Energy shareholders, Rupert Murdoch, Dick Cheney and Lord Jacob Rothschild.

And in light of recent discoveries, the government of Netanyahu continues attempts to annex the Syrian land. The US backs the UN in its polite requests for Israel to comply with international law, while at the same time, US companies like Genie Energy, use the occupied land for their own ventures, emphasising the notion that the Pentagon is run by corporations.

Israel’s ‘oasis’ in the desert continues to develop at the expense of Syria and the Syrian people. And despite international indignation for Israel’s unlawful actions, nothing of any real substance is done about it. Over the years, this inactivity has encouraged Israel to presume it is above the law…The Golan Heights was and still is Syrian territory.”

    • “Genie Energy, a…New Jersey-based company said data from exploratory wells drilling into the area confirm what it said were “significant” quantities of oil and natural gas…The company’s Israeli subsidiary, Afek Oil and Gas, drilled into a column of reserves about 1,150 feet thick, about 10 times larger than the global average…The Israeli Ministry of Energy and Water Resources awarded a drilling permit to Genie for territory in the southern Golan Heights in 2013. The company at the time estimated the reserve potential in a 150-square-mile southern portion of the Golan Heights was high.

Former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney had served as an adviser to Genie. In a profilepublished by Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Genie CEO Howard Jonas was described as one of the primary campaign supporters and U.S. allies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”

      • “On January 10, 2017, Genie Energy Ltd. announced it was creating a new company, Atid Drilling Ltd., an on-shore drilling services venture based in Israel to drill for oil in the Golan Heights among other places. They will expand the drilling by Genie Energy’s subsidiary Afek Oil & Gas which since the October, 2015 announcement has completed five exploratory wells in Golan Heights.
The creation of Atid Drilling by Genie confirms they are convinced based on the preliminary drilling results that there is something “big” in Golan. A month later, in mid-February soon after Trump is sworn in as President, Netanyahu flies to Washington to discuss US recognition of Israel’s annexation of Golan Heights…It is becoming increasingly clear than unless there is some very careful rethinking on the part of Washington and of Israel, we might find ourselves in another war for oil in of all places the Golan Heights, this one a war involving Syria, Russia, Iran, Lebanon’s Hezbollah on one side and Israel and Rex Tillerson’s 68 nation “anti-ISIS coalition” on the other side, another senseless war over control of oil.”

    • Israel backs the Greater Kurdistan project for 3 reasons in my estimation:

      1. Kurds are not a secular government and will not rule by democratic means, which translates to “stability” for Israel just like Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia for example, which are all allies of Israel.
      2. The creation of GK means the breaking up of the last secular countries in the ME and countries that oppose Israel on ideological grounds. Iraq, Syria, Turkey and Iran all targets of Israel and all have to be broken up for GK.
      3. The creation of GK also leaves Israel to gobble up Golan in pursuit of their ultimate prize, Greater Israel. All of those resources are just sitting there waiting to be gobbled up

  10. Oh good god, not the “Rothschild central bank” garbage again. All central banks are state owned.

    • we’ve covered this so many times Jag and you always say the same thing no matter what I show you so I know I’m just wasting time but, here I go again…

it’s a “public private partnership”, don’t ya know and if that means, to you, that it’s not privately owned, well, I’m glad you bought into their hype, but unfortunately, it’s simply not true:

“The Federal Reserve derives its authority from the Congress, which created the System in 1913 with the enactment of the Federal Reserve Act. This central banking “system” has three important features: (1) a central governing board–the Federal Reserve Board of Governors; (2) a decentralized operating structure of 12 Federal Reserve Banks; and (3) a blend of public and private characteristics

Some observers mistakenly consider the Federal Reserve to be a private entity because the Reserve Banks are organized similarly to private corporations. For instance, each of the 12 Reserve Banks operates within its own particular geographic area, or District, of the United States, and each is separately incorporated and has its own board of directors. Commercial banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System hold stock in their District’s Reserve Bank. However, owning Reserve Bank stock is quite different from owning stock in a private company. The Reserve Banks are not operated for profit, and ownership of a certain amount of stock is, by law, a condition of membership in the System. In fact, the Reserve Banks are required by law to transfer net earnings to the U.S. Treasury, after providing for all necessary expenses of the Reserve Banks, legally required dividend payments, and maintaining a limited balance in a surplus fund.” Federal Reserve Bank’s own website

Each of the 12 Fed banks are corporations. Major commercial banks OWN the STOCK of that corporation. And each of those STOCKHOLDERS received “legally required dividend payments”… dividends they make serving as what YOU call a “state owned” central bank.

They are COMPLETELY independent of government control. Congress cannot tell they what to do nor can the president.

They keep the interest rate artificially low so you cant get shit for interest on the money in your savings account which makes more money for the banks that OWN the Federal Reserve. All of their policies are directed at producing the maximum profit margins for bankers in America as opposed to helping the citizens of the country.

And when the time came, they “printed” and shuttled out the back door, TRILLIONS of dollars in back-door “loans” to help certain, big banks after the economic crash that the heads of the Federal Reserve CAUSED themselves.

Now, Syria’s central bank system is owned and CONTROLLED by their government and sets policy that is designed to HELP THE PEOPLE… not the banksters of Syria..

All of the Westernized “public/private” central banking systems are connected via the Bank for International Settlements, which bills ITSELF as the “central bank of central banks”

The BIS is “owned by central banks which “fosters international monetary and financial cooperation and serves as a bank for central banks”

Keep in mind what I just showed you from the Feds’ own website… it is OWNED by the local banks which OWN stock and get paid dividends.

The BIS is OWNED by the “public/private” central banks of the world which are all set up the same way and… the Rothschilds OWN many of the local banks that OWN at least a part of the central banks in those countries.

now, as you said… oh good god… with the Rothschilds owning so many of the local banks that own at least part of the central banks in so many countries… it is certainly reasonable to suggest they control a good deal of the financial policies set by the BIS which then trickle down (yes, I said that) to various public/private central banks across the globe, including ours.

Throwing your hands up and saying the central banks are not “privately owned” in spite of all of this evidence to the contrary, is illogical Jag. sorry, but it is.

Syria is not the same system. Neither was Iraq or Libya and in case you forgot, literally, the second thing we did when we took over Iraq was to impliment the central bank law which converted what they had to what we have and attached it to the BIS system. Same with Libya.

Waay waaay too much evidence to ignore… but you will I guess

      • What private corporation would return all its surplus to the Treasury?
Central banks are glorified spreadsheets. That’s it.
They cannot function without being linked at the hip with Treasury.
        You’re being had.

      • “They keep the interest rate artificially low so you cant get shit for interest on the money in your savings account which makes more money for the banks that OWN the Federal Reserve.”

The ‘natural rate’ of interest is zero. Governments via Treasury and central bank operations use so called government debt i.e. bonds to to get the rates up to their target.

They can also pay interest on excess reserves. As most are now.

Commercial banks are more profitable with higher interest rates.

The reason that rates are low is because the private sector is tapped out with private debt, run up after Bill Clinton’s surplus mania.

The BIS isn’t what you think it is. Central banks need to do currency swaps fairly regularly. The BIS is the institution that facilitates them is all.

Excluding target countries from the clearing system is economic warfare. And that’s why they do it.

The Fed returns its surpluses to the Treasury. Kind of odd for a private business. Also odd that its chair is appointed by the executive and is junior (under the Act) to the Secretary of the Treasury.

Central banks are really only a big spreadsheet operation that runs the payments system. Their power is limited and they could just as easily be a small sub-office within Treasury.

There would be little to no benefit for any private owners.

    • FYI, jag37777:

Jacob Rothschild, OM, GBE is indeed a sitting member of the Strategic Advisory Board of Genie Energy, along with a bunch of other household neocon folks.

“The Strategic Advisory Board of Genie Oil and Gas advises management on strategic, financial, operational and public policy matters.”

FLASHBACK APR 2012: “Syria is trying to sell gold reserves to raise revenue as Western and Arab sanctions targeting its central bank and oil exports begin to bite…Syria is selling its gold at rock bottom prices…Damascus was looking to offload everything it could to raise cash, including currency reserves…making offers at about 15 percent below the market price…Syria’s total gold reserves are worth around $1.36 billion…sanctions had cut Syria’s oil output by 30 percent, costing Assad’s government $400 million a month in revenue, or $2 billion since November. Prior to EU sanctions, Damascus sold 90 percent of its oil to Europe…The Syrian pound hit a record low on the black market in March of around 100 to the dollar, compared to 47 before the protests erupted, sharply raising the cost of imports…Sanctions are a particularly effective instrument to deprive the Syrian regime of the resources it uses to finance and arm militias.”

If you’ll recall, the first thing the US and NATO-backed Benghazi rebels (aka terrorists) did was take over Libya’s central bank and the oil.

FLASHBACK MAR 2011: Libyan rebels in Benghazi say they have formed their own central bank. The rebel group known as the Transitional National Council released a statement last week announcing that they have designated the Central Bank of Benghazi as a monetary authority competent in monetary policies in Libya, and that they have appointed a governor to the Central Bank of Libya, with a temporary headquarters in Benghazi.”

“As analysts debate possible motives behind President Obama’s United Nations-backed military intervention in Libya, one angle that has received attention in recent days is the rebels’ seemingly odd decision to establish a new central bank to replace dictator Muammar Gadhafi’s state-owned monetary authority — possibly the first time in history that revolutionaries have taken time out from an ongoing life-and-death battle to create such an institution, according to observers…The Gadhafi regime’s central bank — unlike the U.S. Federal Reserve, which is owned by private shareholders — was among the few central banks in the world that was entirely state-owned. At the moment, it is unclear exactly who owns the rebel’s central bank or how it will be governed.

The so-called Interim Transitional National Council, the rebels’ self-appointed new government for Libya purporting to be the “sole legitimate representative of Libyan People,” also trumpeted the creation of a new “Libyan Oil Company” based in the rebel stronghold city of Benghazi. The North African nation, of course, has the continent’s largest proven oil reserves.

The U.S. government and the U.N. have both recently announced that the rebels would be free to sell oil under their control — if they do it without Gaddafi’s National Oil Corporation. And the first shipments are set to start next week.”

“Before 2011, Libya had achieved economic independence, with its own water, its own food, its own oil, its own money, and its own state-owned bank. It had arisen under Qaddafi from one of the poorest of countries to the richest in Africa.
Education and medical treatment were free; having a home was considered a human right; and Libyans participated in an original system of local democracy. The country boasted the world’s largest irrigation system, the Great Man-made River project, which brought water from the desert to the cities and coastal areas; and Qaddafi was embarking on a program to spread this model throughout Africa.
But that was before U.S.-NATO forces bombed the irrigation system and wreaked havoc on the country…The Secretary of State’s victory lap was indeed premature, if what we’re talking about is the officially stated goal of humanitarian intervention. But her newly-released emails reveal another agenda behind the Libyan war; and this one, it seems, was achieved…. One of these emails, dated April 2, 2011, reads in part:
“Qaddafi’s government holds 143 tons of gold, and a similar amount in silver … This gold was accumulated prior to the current rebellion and was intended to be used to establish a pan-African currency based on the Libyan golden dinar. This plan was designed to provide the francophone African countries with an alternative to the French franc (CFA).”
…Conspicuously absent is any mention of humanitarian concerns.”

Hence, the Rothschild European colonization of Africa project known as Israel is the great beneficiary and not-so-hidden player in all of these conflicts. #Zionism

“Baron Edmond de Rothschild’s love of Israel and his strong commitment, both financial and educational, to the early pioneers was one of the main factors which led to the early settlement of the land during the First Aliya in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Rishon Lezion was, as its name suggests, one of the first settlements to be populated – in 1882 – during the First Aliya wave from Eastern Europe.

Its pioneers were totally unprepared for the agricultural life and lacked even the basic capabilities to make a go of it in the barren, waterless hills of the Yishuv.

So a representative of the group traveled to the Yishuv’s best friend and benefactor, Baron Rothschild, who immediately arranged for students at the nearby Mikve Yisrael Agricultural school to go and train the settlers. He also sent money to support digging for a well and dispatched his own agricultural experts, who declared the land in the area suitable for grape growing and trained some of the pioneers to tend the vineyards.”

FLASHBACK NOV 2016: “Israel is once again bearing the harsh brunt of its hot climate as it faces a drought…Since April, northern Israel’s farmers forced to contend with the ‘longest summer in the country’s history’ amid total absence of rainfall…Water reservoirs in the Golan Heights, which are relied upon to accumulate water throughout the winter for the protracted heat of the summer, remain empty…“Unfortunately we go by the strategy whereby every year is a drought year until proven otherwise,” said Eitan Sadeh, the director of the Golan Association which is responsible for water supply to farmers in the Golan Heights.”

“The British Israel movement expounded the theory that the British were the real descendants of Biblical Israel and thus God’s only chosen people…they argued that the 10 so-called lost tribes of Israel, who vanished from history after being conquered in 720 before Christ, eventually settled in Britain…a variation of the classic British Israel theory states that not only the British are descendants of Israel’s 10 lost tribes, but all the white peoples of the world…These are people who put excessive accent on Israel, with the aim of religiously justifying their white racial purity.” – Marleen Smith
