Of Billionaires, Globalists and Generals: President Trump’s “Miracle of Chile” Cabinet Takes Shape

by Scott Creighton

On June the second, 2009, a few months after President Barack Obama took office, I published my article Barack Obama is Not “the greatest man of our generation” : The Miracle of Chile comes to America. In that very personal essay I explained to a former college professor of mine (a man I have always had great respect for) that Barack Obama was not “the greatest man of our generation” and in fact he would end up being one of the most disastrous fake-left presidents we have ever had.

The article focused on how, rather than moving the country decidedly to the left as he promised in his “CHANGE” campaign, Obama was going to continue pursuing the reactionary neoliberalization of this country just as George W. Bush did and just as Bill Clinton did before him.

The model of that transition I supposed would be based on the neoliberal transformation of Chile in 1973 when we crafted a bloody coup in that country and installed a dictator who would take orders from the Chicago Boys (Milton Friedman technocrats from the University of Chicago School of Economics) and dump the “economic brick” on the people in order to kick-off what would come to be known as the “Miracle of Chile”

Mass privatizations, open borders for “flexible workforces”, open fiscal borders for hot-money speculators from Wall Street and London, unprecedented deregulation of Big Business, open markets allowing for foreign looting of local economies, destabilizing tax-breaks for billionaires and Big Business, crippling austerity measures, attacks on unions to drive down the wage structure and drive up the profit margins for Big Business… that’s the “brick”. Neoliberalism. Reagan’s “trickle down” economic ideology which has also been called “The Washington Consensus” and just happens to be the same economic “small government” ideology of the fake-left in this country, the Clinton led New Dems, Democratic Leadership Council, the Blue Dog Dems and now… the unDemocratic Party of the Right of Reagan “Centrists” who just lost a painfully embarrassing election to a guy who once shaved Vince McMahon’s head at WrestleMania and was on record as saying he could grab any woman’s privates that he wanted because he was rich.

This is the economic policy that we would install in every country we destabilized and then regime changed. It’s the same economic policy the IMF and World Bank force on countries when they foolishly take out loans from these globalist institutions. In order to protect the order of the newly installed neoliberal economic structure, usually we also install a military dictator, or a dictator who likes to pretend he was in the military, so they can crack down on the “terrorists” who oppose their New World Order and strike fear and adulation in the rest of the mindless rabble.

Neoliberalism is the bread and butter of globalization and it is the economic policy of choice of fascism because it elevates the corporate state above all else and makes government, or what’s left of it, subservient to the wishes of the one-tenth of one percent who sit in the mahogany board rooms issuing decrees from on high. It is what is at the core of what Sanders supporters and Trump supporters rejected this year en masse and yet, here we go again with another “CHANGE” administration setting up the exact opposite of what it’s supporters really wanted.

Donald Trump will announce today several new cabinet picks who, as I will show you, are reactionary neoliberal zealots, exactly the kind of technocrats he would need to further the transformation of this country into a 3rd world tin-pot economic laboratory, the likes of which we have seen fail over and over again across the globe. Many are billionaires, some are tainted generals and all are dyed in the wool globalists who will serve the “greater good” of turning this nation into Ayn Rand’s reactionary wet dream.

They don’t call it the Washington Consensus for nothing.

Trump is getting some praise today as Carrier and he met yesterday to hash out a plan for them to keep two factories here in the states rather than send them down to Mexico as they planned. Trump promised his fans that he would stop that on “day one” and claimed his business acumen would provide him the upper hand in that negotiation.

Carrier has now said they will do something to save “1,000” jobs thanks to the meeting with the president elect. 2,100 employees were told their jobs were going south of the border a couple months ago so clearly Carrier is still sending something down south and there is no telling what sweet deals Trump gave them for the conciliatory gesture.

In reality, Carrier will probably announce a couple months after Trump gets in office that 100 or so jobs were “saved” as they enjoy the tax breaks from Trump and ship the rest of the jobs to Mexico.

In congress they are about to pass something called the 21st Century Cures Act which supposedly will help curb the epidemic of drug abuse and overdoses in the country. But it wont. Instead, it will reward the manufacturers of the most lethal of the narcotics which are being over-prescribed and abused by curbing any oversight or regulations on them and then pump tons of cash into Big Pharma’s research divisions so they can make new, unregulated drugs which they can then sell for huge profits to Americans… all at great cost to the American tax-payer.

Neoliberalism at it’s finest. Fascism in other words.

Here are a couple of Trump’s latest cabinet appointments which will help him push his “populist” agenda while in office.

Elaine Chao – Secretary of Transportation

Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, a man who has taken millions of dollars in “campaign contributions” from the folks who pushed this bill, is playing a key role in the passage of this piece of neoliberal corporate welfare in the senate while his wife, Elaine Chao, has been nominated to serve in Donald Trump’s cabinet as Secretary of Transportation.

Chao attended Harvard, served under George W. Bush as Labor Secretary for 8 years and was “vice president for syndications at Bank of America Capital Markets Group in San Francisco, and an international banker at Citicorp in New York for four years”

Chao is also a fellow at the neoliberal Heritage Foundation and has served on various boards for Big Business since leaving office.

In 2009 Chao resumed her previous role as a Distinguished Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, and she contributes to Fox News and other media outlets.

She also serves as a director on a number of corporate and non-profit boards,[13][37] including the Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Wells Fargo,[38] NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital, News Corp,[39] Dole Food Company,[40] and Protective Life Corporation.[41][42][43] In June 2011, she was awarded the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service.[44]

Transportation is an important position. The roadways will almost certainly be further privatized as will all those “shovel ready” infrastructure jobs Trump claims will be created by his 1 trillion dollar tax-break for Big Business scheme he used to call a “jobs bill”

Steven Mnuchin-  Secretary of Treasury

Steven Mnuchin is a billionaire globalist who has previous investment ties to Donald Trump. He was a partner at Goldman Sachs, worked for the Soros Management Fund and helped crash the economy back in 2008 and then profited from that effort later to the tune of billions of dollars.

In 2004, he also founded a hedge fund, Dune Capital Management, named for a spot near his house in the Hamptons. The firm invested in at least two Donald Trump projects and, in one of them, was sued by Trump before a settlement was reached. Then, in partnership with Soros, hedge fund manager John Paulson and others, Mnuchin bought the failed housing lender IndyMac in 2009 for $1.6 billion.[7] The bank, purchased out of bankruptcy from the FDIC, was renamed OneWest, with Mnuchin as chair. According to The New York Times, OneWest “was involved in a string of lawsuits over questionable foreclosures, and settled several cases for millions of dollars.” OneWest was sold to CIT Group in 2015.[5]

Talk about the continuation of service to the masters of the universe over at Goldman Sachs…

He would be “the third Goldman alumnus to serve in the job, after Henry M. Paulson Jr., under President George W. Bush; and Robert E. Rubin, under President Bill Clinton” in the 2000s and 1990s respectively

Wilbur Ross – Secretary of Commerce

Another billionaire Wilbur Ross is expected to be announced as Trump’s Secretary of Commerce. Ross headed up Rothschild & Co.’s bankruptcy advisory business where he served as the head vulture capitalist buying up businesses and strip-mining them for whatever he could get. His shoddy mine in West Virginia, one that was deregulated by Elaine Chao, collapsed while he was milking money for that hole in the ground and several miners, the ones Trump promised to help during his election, died horrible deaths. He got off scot-free of course.

Ross served under U.S. President Bill Clinton on the board of the U.S.-Russia Investment Fund, and later, under New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani as the Mayor’s privatization advisor.[16] In January 1998 he put $2.25 million in seed money into McCaughey Ross’s campaign.[citation needed] Although he was an early supporter of Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign, Ross in earlier years was a registered Democrat, served as an officer of the New York State Democratic Party and held fundraisers for Democratic candidates at his apartment in New York City.

Here is a list of his previously announced choices:

  • Chief of Staff: RNC Chairman Reince Priebus – reactionary neoliberal
  • Chief White House Strategist: Trump Campaign CEO Steve Bannon – “libertarian” neoliberal
  • Attorney General: Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions – expansionist neoliberal who opposed McCain bill banning torture
  • Housing and Urban Development Secretary: Dr. Ben Carson – crazy neoliberal wants to privatize Medicare
  • Health and Human Services Secretary: Georgia Congressman Tom Price – Chamber of Commerce neoliberal who wants to privatize Medicare
  • Education Secretary: Betsy DeVos – Amway pyramid scheme billionaire neoliberal wants to privatize Dept. of Education

Trump has a thing for generals as well as for neoliberal billionaires. Here are some of his favorites who have either been offered jobs or are expected to be offered jobs.

  • Michael Flynn – ran Defense Intelligence Agency
  • Jack Keane
  • James “maddog” Mattis – “be prepared to kill everyone”
  • David Petraeus-  of the “surge” Salvador Option death squads in Iraq
  • John Kelly

Every one of these men are hawkish in their support for the endless Global War OF Terrorism and each and every one of them is known for being “intelligent” when it comes to understanding the role the military plays in pursuit of that New World Order that is so fashionable in certain circles inhabited by billionaires and their lapdogs these days. One of them will undoubtedly be Secretary of Defense. One might just be Secretary of State if Trump doesn’t knuckle under to pressure from the masters of the universe and install billionaire globalist Mitt Romney in that position. Mitt after all did his part losing to Barack Obama back in 2012. Bills must be paid don’t you know.

There you have it. Billionaires, globalists and generals. Trump’s “populist” cabinet as it stands right now. Not a nationalist or a protectionist in the whole batch. It’s what globalists like to call “stability”… the illusion of choice in our ‘democracy” and the continuation of the neoliberal rule of the masters of the universe in reality. This is what you got from Clinton. This is what you got from Bush. This is what you got from Obama. And if all those Goldman Sachs Secretary of Treasury choices are any indication, this is what you get from Trump.

I’m sorry but is just the reality we face.

Please help keep AE up and running if you can.

Thank you all so much

  1. Thanks for the reality check. This election seems to have divided American society into three main categories.

[1] Fake leftists who pine for Hillary and imagine that Democrats who stab us in the back are somehow better than Republicans who stab us in the front.

[2] True leftists who were so fed up with fake leftism that we spent a couple of weeks gloating about Hillary’s defeat, even though we loathed Trump.

[3] Right-wingers who were fed up with poverty and political correctness, and who delude themselves that they will now be free of both. (NOTE: Right-wingers and fake leftists both indulge in political correctness. For right wingers it manifests as chatter about abortion, flag burning, school prayer, and the Second Amendment. For fake leftists it manifests as chatter about racists, sexists, bigots, homophobes, and so on.)

The enemy is not Republicans, but neoliberalism wherever it occurs. Crimes remain crimes even when committed by Democrats.

  2. This seems to play out exactly as John Perkins “Economic Hitman,” book describes as standard playbook for south america. Why did anyone think they would operate differently within usa?

  3. I’m not surprised, but I am surprised by how many in the Alt Media, especially more mature folks, fell for the Trump propaganda. I’m not sure if its a testament to the power of propaganda, the fact that people want so badly for a ‘hero’ to save them, or temporary memory loss that both parties are controlled by higher powers.

No ONE gets national media attention without approval. No one. Trump getting so much attention proves he was the chosen Republican candidate. If you want to see how the establishment treats candidates they don’t like, then refresh yourself how Bernie Sanders was treated, or more importantly how Ron Paul was treated by the MSM in the ’08 and ’12 primaries.

What I have learned the past year is that just because you are aware a source of information is propaganda, does not make you immune from its affects if you choose to expose yourself to it. It’s like thinking because I know alcohol makes me drunk I no longer will get drunk when I consume it. That is faulty logic. Propaganda works very well… oh and it’s now legal for the US Govt to employ it, not that that stopped them before it was legal.

  4. I am from the Philippines which recently ellected an establishment outsider, a death squad running city mayor to be president. He ran on a populist platform to restore law and order and was openly backed by the communist party who he accomodated in his city. He was crtical of oligarchs and was not one himself.

Recently, the president allowed the burial of ex dictator Marcos at the heroes cemetery. This caught most everyone by surprise. So we now have massive protests against it.

I am not sure the protests will reverse what happened, but I am hoping that the citizens keep sending a clear message of what we expect the our president to do.

In the case of the US, Trump ran on a populist campaign. But even now, his appointments show a bias towards the same economic and foreign policies as his predecessor. Americans ought to let him know that he will be held accountable to his campaign promises.

    • Duterte is an interesting character if nothing else. He may be in open defiance of the west, flipping Obama off and making overatures to Russia now, but one way or another he’ll be brought into the fold I suspect. The Stepford Wives comes to mind for some reason.

  5. “The model of that transition I supposed would be based on the neoliberal transformation of Chile in 1973”

I think that the model that Clinton/Barack Obama was following (domestically) was more New Zealand than Chile.

  6. You have to appreciate the fact that Betsy DeVos (Trump’s pick to take the entire school system straight into charter schools and a voucher system) is the sister of Erik Prince, the founder of Blackwater. It’s a privatizin’ family affair!

  7. People who thinks Trump is going to be a change for the better, is mentally retarded.
