Thousands rally against TTIP, US corporate rule, GMO & wars in Rome (VIDEO)

Tens of thousands came out in the capital of Italy to decry the secretive Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) deal between the EU and the United States, which protesters believe would push Europe into corporate slavery.

Demonstrators gathered in Rome’s San Giovanni Square holding up anti-TTIP banners reading, “American chicken filled with hormones on our tables? Stop TTIP,”“People before profits,” and “Free circulation? Not capital, but people,” while chanting slogans denouncing the treaty.

  2. Good for them. “American chicken filled with hormones on our tables” is probably the least of their worries, however. Between the TPP and TTIP, I think the implied right of multi-national corporations to demand taxpayer compensation for projected potential profit loss in the event of blocking said corporations from raping various lands for resources and poisoning the local populations is a greater concern to me at least. One thing that is not clear to me at this point: Does the TPP give corporations the right to litigate over the right to eminent domain concerning private land held by everyday US citizens?
