Iowa Democratic party altered precinct’s caucus results during chaotic night

(Now we know why the professional Medicaid privatizer didn’t allow the Sanders campaign a review of the official records from the Iowa caucus: she skimmed a little here, a little there in order to prevent Hillary from losing the first two primaries)

from the Guardian

In the Iowa Democratic party’s chaotic attempt to report caucus results on Monday night, the results in at least one precinct were unilaterally changed by the party as it attempted to deal with the culmination of a rushed and imperfect process overseeing the first-in-the-nation nominating contest.

In Grinnell Ward 1, the precinct where elite liberal arts college Grinnell College is located, 19 delegates were awarded to Bernie Sanders and seven were awarded to Hillary Clinton on caucus night. However, the Iowa Democratic party decided to shift one delegate from Sanders to Clinton on the night and did not notify precinct secretary J Pablo Silva that they had done so. Silva only discovered that this happened the next day, when checking the precinct results in other parts of the county.

  1. Thanks, Scott. This article confirms all of what you’ve written …
They end up blaming “simple mismanagement”.
Mismanagement, the American curse … The world’s cross.
Luckily, we still have Prez Peace-nik to apologize for the really big boo boos, like bomb hospitals and such …

  2. But didn’t you say in your “Bernie is not a Socialist” post (which I enjoyed very much, btw), that it ultimately doesn’t matter? That Bernie is just playing the part given to him and reading the script handed to him (like everyone else in this Presidential Election production), and that a Bernie presidency wouldn’t be all that much different from Hillary?

Why then should we get worked up about the Iowa caucus results, and expend any energy on this sub-plot of the production? Shouldn’t the plan be to stay focused on pointing out the 100% controlled circus/play/production?

    • to me the only thing that matters regarding the elections is showing how rigged they are. they rig them in a number of ways, not just stealing them via electronic voting machines. Making sure that we don’t really have that much diversity regarding the important messages is also important to them and that’s why I point out just how similar Bernie is to Hillary on those subjects. They will allow debate regarding the role of banking or how to fix Social Security or whether or not we get a fair shot at the elusive American Dream… but they will not and will not ever allow a candidate to walk on stage and raise serious questions about our imperialist agenda overseas. The strongest line they will allow there is whether or not someone “made a mistake” with the Iraq vote. But they will never allow anyone to talk openly on that stage about the 935 lies told to us to get us to back the Iraq invasion and occupation or the profiteering that came from the occupation or even mention Amerithrax and the Patriot Act. Certain subjects are beyond taboo.

We should get worked about the theft of the Iowa caucus because once the majority comes to the conclusion that they wont be able to change anything with a vote, they will start to figure out the next logical step… what WILL bring about change? And THAT is why I write about stolen elections, rigged electronic voting machines and corrupt party officials throwing caucuses. And that is also why even the most believable “alternative” independent websites not only refuse to investigate stolen elections, but will actively remove comments and ban commenters who talk about them.
