CNN’s Bullshit Report About Russian Cruise Missiles Hitting Iran: Tehran Calls Report “psychological war”

by Scott Creighton

UPDATE: An Iranian general calls these claims “blatant lies

CNN is the fascist version of a state-TV “news” service in that everything they do is in direct support of our fascist imperialist agenda either at home or overseas. That makes CNN a defacto branch of US Special Forces operating as an unconventional warfare/psychological warfare operation.

Keeping that in mind, CNN’s intrepid Barbara Starr and Jeremy Diamond are reporting, based on more of their famous “undisclosed military sources”, that several of Russia’s cruise missiles hit a civilian area in Iran today.

A number of cruise missiles launched from a Russian ship and aimed at targets in Syria have crashed in Iran, two U.S. officials told CNN Thursday.

Monitoring by U.S. military and intelligence assets has concluded that at least four missiles crashed as they flew over Iran.

The U.S. believes, based on intelligence reports of damage assessments, that some buildings were damaged and civilians may have been hurt.

It’s unclear where in Iran the missiles landed. CNN Mockingbirds, Starr and Diamond

The story is so ridiculous, it makes one wonder if Starr and Diamond didn’t just make it up themselves.

Let me get this straight: undisclosed sources say they know a number of Russian missiles hit Iran because they have various methods of tracking these things and therefore they know some civilians “may have been hurt”… yet they have no idea where the missiles struck?

Sounds to me like someone over at CNN decided they would try to float a story out there to see if they could help President Peace Prize with his DWB problem.

Sounds that way to some others as well:

The Russian Defense Ministry, however, took strong issue with the CNN report in a posting on Facebook Thursday.

Unlike CNN, we don’t report quoting anonymous sources, but we show launches of our missiles and the targets they hit in real-time mode,” the statement reads, noting that Russian drones are operating in Syria around the clock, presumably monitoring operations.

It continues, “No matter how unpleasant and unexpected it is for our colleagues in the Pentagon and Langley, our strike yesterday with precision-guided weapons at ISIS infrastructure in Syria hit its targets.” CNN Mockingbirds, Starr and Diamond

Tehran has denied US reports that four of Russia’s cruise missiles targeting ISIL actually fell to the ground in Iran, with the country’s defense ministry calling the accusations “psychological war.”

Russia’s Defense Ministry also refutes US media reports of an alleged incident involving cruise missiles which were fired at ISIL positions in Syria on October 7, stating that all missiles hit their designated targets. Sputnik International

Press TV has no article on the subject as of the moment. I will continue to monitor the site to see what they say about it.

Same for SANA.

For now, it looks like CNN is up to their old tricks: manufacturing stories to suit the needs of the military and whatever administration is in office.

Repeating the story in the Western press are places like: Washington Post, New York Times, Slate, BBC and of course, Fox “News”

Nothing is offered by any of these services by way of evidence of this event. Most claim they were given this information by “senior Pentagon officials” which could easily mean “a CIA officer working at the Pentagon”

Some, like Slate, just repeat the unsupported claims made by CNN without any question or further consideration.

It’s ridiculous propaganda.

  1. Hitting Iran when you’re aiming at Syria is pretty far fetched and Russia’s not the US technologically but they’re not that far down the capability ladder, so yeah, something smells here
