WH Spokesman: Ron Klain got Ebola Czar Job Because He’s a Technocrat. He Knows Nothing About Ebola

by Scott Creighton

Yesterday I wrote about Obama’s new Ebola Czar, Ron Klain, being nothing more than a sleazy neoliberal DLC corporatist/centrist Washington insider revolving door lobbyist who knows nothing about emergency preparedness or medicine or Ebola.

Apparently others have picked up on this fact, though few if any take the time to explain Ron’s neoliberal/corporatist/centrist/globalist/free-market leanings. I guess you wouldn’t expect the free-marketeers to delve into that aspect of his background too deeply, would ya?

Turns out someone at CNN thought it was odd that this guy was Obama’s choice as well and asked the White House spokesman about it and the answer was about what you would expect.

It’s funny watching the guy spin his answer. At first he doesn’t, he answers the question he thinks he should have been asked, which is the definition of “spin” and it’s PR 101. But then he eventually offers up a simple explanation – Ron Klain was gifted the position because he’s a political insider and a technocrat who specializes in “implementation” of various operations, but yes, Ron doesn’t know the first thing about Ebola or medicine or emergency preparedness or anything else relevant to such a position. In short, he doesn’t need to. He’s a true-believer and therefore someone who can be trusted to move the ball forward.

He’s a neoliberal technocrat and in fact, because the measures the government is going to implement due to Ebola are going to be based on erroneous information so of course it’s actually better if the Ebola Czar doesn’t know Jack about Ebola so later he is gifted with a bit of plausible dependability… as is the White House (they can blame “know nothing” Klain)

If you are wondering about how that little trick works, just look up “Brownie” and “Katrina” and you’ll get the picture.

  1. It was immediately apparent from the Klain appointment–which rounded out the trifecta of lawyers, guns and money–that Obama is channeling Warren Zevon to fight this make-believe scourge.

  2. Resposible for implementing the recovery act, yes that has worked out so well as the fed gets ready to fire off QEinfinity…

  3. Another take on the african side of the Ebola Hoax:

An article is making the rounds on the Interweb, suggesting Ebola was a hoax and one of the reasons of the fabrication was to get boots on the ground to force an end to ongoing diamond miner strikes…

Looking into this for a bit, I found no references to recent (post 2012) strikes in diamond mining in Sierra Leone, but that does not mean such strikes are not happening – I wouldn’t be surprised – It just looks like the iron ore business might be a more likely candidate to what’s happening:

¨No raw material is more basic than iron ore, and in recent years China has been importing more of it than the rest of the world combined. Its price is a sort of barometer for the Chinese economy, in turn lifting or sinking the appetite for the raw materials that drive the fortunes of Sierra Leone and other poor countries. Rising demand for steel to build China’s skyscrapers and lay the rebar running beneath its highways spawned plans for iron-ore projects across West Africa. This includes another mine in Sierra Leone, operated by London Mining Plc, and projects in neighboring Liberia and Guinea.¨

¨“The impact of Ebola in terms of iron-ore revenue is huge,” said Lansana Fofanah, a senior economist in Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. “Iron ore is responsible for the country’s double-digit growth since 2011 until the Ebola outbreak.”

¨African Minerals Ltd. (AMI) is the biggest single contributor to Sierra Leone’s economy, employing 7,000 people at the Tonkolili mine that cost more than $1.7 billion to build and started in 2011. As ore prices have fallen, the London-based company’s stock has slumped 92 percent this year as the company tries to renegotiate loans and strip out cost to remain profitable.¨

¨The other producer in the country, London Mining Plc (LOND), is down 96 percent this year and said last week that its shares had no value as it looks for a rescue investor. The stock was suspended from trading on Oct. 10 after it said the only investors it was still engaged in talks with were those not seeking to keep the company operating.¨

China has put a lot of money recently into these mining companies and now they are on the verge of collapse. China has also just started to invest in the Trans–West African Coastal Highway which has stalled…

  4. Webster Tarpley on the other hand is the alternative media czar for war hungry stuck up imbeciles – as our host here has been telling us for quite some time already.
WT in his latest rant which I tortured myself to listen to for 4 minutes (the headline to his crisis radio should have been enough already) tells his by now hopefully inexistent audience, that Obamagod is a defeatist if he doesn’t step up the sorties on Kobane. That means shister wants to bomb Syria to past the stone age to get rid of the inexistent ISIS.
And if ISIS is real, then EBOLA must be too! At least to the shrinking brain of webster tarpley – get this: ¨LACK OF EBOLA VACCINE TEACHING MILLIONS THAT AUSTERITY CUTS DO INDEED KILL AS RICK PERRYS UNDERFUNDED TEXAS TEA-PARTY HEALTH SYSTEM SPREADS PLAGUES.
Ever heard anything more dumber? Makes you wonder if Tarpley is soon going to pack up for some paid for yacht and ride into the sunset – good riddance.

The Wall street journals headlines an hour ago:
