Obama commission: Slash Social Security, reduce corporate taxes

Progressives across the US are condemning President Obama’s deficit-reduction commission for its proposal, released today, to cut Social Security payments while lowering corporate taxes and the highest income tax bracket.

The commission, put together by the White House in February, released a draft report (PDF) Wednesday that proposes deep cuts to domestic and military spending that would reduce the deficit by $4 trillion over the next 10 years. But the way in which the proposal goes about achieving those reductions has come in for heavy attack from progressive politicians, labor leaders and commentators.

  1. I wonder how long Simpson ‘served’ in the Senate, how much he squeezed out of there off the workers’ dime. Heard 6 billion dollars was spent on ads for this past mid-term election. Milk from the Congressional cow must taste a lot sweeter than any I get with my SS check.

  2. Alan Simpson is one sick fucker. I thought we were done with him years ago when he left office.

    I personally do not expect a dime from SS by the time I would like to retire within ten years. I can only hope that my business can sustain me until I die. Good thing that it does not require too much effort.

    These fucking people just amaze me. How long will it take for people to take to the streets like the French?

    Off with their fucking heads, I say. Simpson can go first, Obama second.
