Obama’s “Jobs” Bill Won’t Actually Create Jobs… but it Will Extend the Patriot Act and it Might Help Undermine Social Security. Thank you Barack Obush

by Scott Creighton

Just a quick note:

It is being reported that the new Jobs Bill created by Team DLC Obama™ Brand won’t actually create many jobs, if any. But on the upside, it will continue the unconstitutional and highly unethical Patriot Act provisions that were set to expire on Feb. 28, 2010.

It sounds great: A big jobs bill that would hand President Barack Obama a badly needed victory and please Republicans with tax cuts at the same time. But there’s a problem: It won’t actually create many jobs.

Even the Obama administration acknowledges the legislation’s centerpiece — a tax cut for businesses that hire unemployed workers — would work only on the marginsBusiness Insider

The senate democrats (remember those guys who crafted the mandatory insurance company bailout plan they call “healthcare reform”?) have suggested a different plan though.

Rather than just giving businesses a tax break of $5,000 per new hire, they are suggesting that the employers don’t have to pay Social Security taxes on each employee hired this year. That serves two functions; 1. it makes it cheaper for businesses to hire people at lower wages thanks to the economy and 2. it allows them to further undermine the stability of the Social Security program so they can claim it’s failing and then use that as an excuse to privatize it faster. Kills two birds with one stone. Hands more money over to BIG business AND it primes the pot to hand over Social Security to the Wall Street bankers. Neat huh?

The “Miracle of America”: Addendum

The “Miracle of America”…. Oct. 5th, 2007

by Scott Creighton

Part 1: Economic Stability is a pre-cursor of democracy.”

On Sept. 11th, 1973, a secret coup took place in Chile. This coup claimed the life of the democratically elected president, Salvador Allende and installed a brutal military junta run by Augusto Pinochet. It would later be called “The Miracle of Chile”.

From a Department of State memorandum dated Nov. 16th 1973:

On Oct. 24 the Junta announced that summary, on-the-spot executions would no longer be carried out and that persons caught in the act of resisting the government would henceforth be held for military courts. Since that date 17 executions following military trials have been announced. In compliance with court martial sentences, now total approximately 100, with an additional 40 prisoners shot while “attempting to escape”. An internal confidential report prepared for the Junta puts the number of executions for the period September 11-30 at 320.”

When democracy is subverted and the will of the people is ignored and even scorned, totalitarian regimes must act quickly to undermine the indignation and the outrage that is sure to follow. Opposition leaders, trade unionists, “leftist” educators, and writers are usually the first to be targeted. Democracy must be set aside for the greater economic good for a very few select individuals and financial institutions. This is not uncommon. What is uncommon is the knowledge of the fact that this very process is already well underway here in the United States and it is being accelerated in anticipation of an economic world-wide collapse.

How to Beat the War Party

by Justin Raimondo, AntiWar

The road goes ever on – that’s the name of the song Frodo Baggins sings, in J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, as he leaves the Shire with his companions to take on the Dark Lord, and I think of it as I wake on a deadline day and start thinking about my topic: which new outrage against human decency, international law, and common sense will I document today, I wonder, as I scan the headlines. What new lies is the War Party telling, what fresh affronts to morality and our real national interests are those fools in Washington intent on committing?
