Peace Prize President Kills 23 Children and 17 Women in Order to Protect the Assets of the IMF and World Bank

by Scott Creighton

***UPDATE*** Thousands of Yemen’s citizens took to the streets yesterday to protest the killing of innocent civilians.  while… Adm. Mullen applauded the attack.

Think your president still represents “change”?  Still think he’s “The Greatest Man of Our Generation“?

While all the news media focuses us on the ridiculous debate of whether or not the Obamacare bill is good for Americans (it isn’t, not by a long shot), another story, a truly remarkable one,  is already starting to slip away down into the memory hole as if it never happened.

Last Thursday, quietly and with zero fanfare, the Peace Prize winning president of the United States (possibly while actually wearing his Peace Prize around his neck to bolster his “progressive” street cred) signed the order to unleash the dogs of war against two separate locations in Yemen.  Their “target”, a “suspected Al-Qaeda member”, was not harmed.  However, many civilians were harmed.  Many of them were killed and maimed in the attacks.

President Obama late last week ordered cruise missile attacks on two locations in Yemen, which “U.S. officials” say were “suspected Al Qaeda hideouts.”  The main target of the attacks, Al Qaeda member Qasim al Rim, was not among those killed, but: “a local Yemeni official said on Sunday that 49 civilians, among them 23 children and 17 women, were killed in air strikes against Al-Qaeda, which he said were carried out ‘indiscriminately’.”  Glenn Greenwald

A few blogs and newspapers briefly covered the story then dropped it (“Nothing to see here folks. Move On.”).  But the “Quick Forget Factor” to save Obama’s Peace Cred isn’t the most significant part of the story. For that, we have to look a little deeper. For that, we have to ask the question “Why?”.  Why is it that Barak Obama chose to kill at least 49 civilians in a little country most people in America couldn’t find on a map.  Would he, once again, try to justify it by claiming Al Qaeda will use Yemen as a platform to launch attacks on America?  Would he, once again, raise the unholy specter of 9/11; the “end all be all” of every single illegal act the U.S. imperialism train has perpetrated since that fateful day?

No. What they did this time, is actually worse.

What Did the “Beacon of Democracy in the Region” do This Week?

1. They (Israel) admitted to illegally harvesting the organs of dead Palestinians for decades…

Israel has admitted pathologists harvested organs from dead Palestinians, and others, without the consent of their families – a practice it said ended in the 1990s – it emerged at the weekend.

The admission, by the former head of the country’s forensic institute, followed a furious row prompted by a Swedish newspaper reporting that Israel was killing Palestinians in order to use their organs – a charge that Israel denied and called “antisemitic”.  The Guardian

2. Israel’s chief rabbi likened the recent actions of West Bank settlers to similar crimes committed by the Germans prior to the Holocaust…

But in the case of the mosque fire, Israeli leaders condemned the attack and promised an aggressive investigation. The country’s chief rabbi likened the incident to the destruction of German synagogues before the Holocaust, a rare evocation of the Nazi mass killings by an Israeli in relation to the Palestinians, whom Israel more often accuses of diminishing the tragedy.  MSNBC

3. A mob of settlers attacked and beat a female Israel police officer, kicking and beating the defenseless officer while she was on the ground…

Angry settlers beat and seriously injured a female Israeli police officer Tuesday, police said, as she tried to enforce a government ban on new housing construction in Jewish West Bank settlements.  MSNBC

4. President Obama approved $30 billion over the next ten years, plus additional billions in “loans” to what can only be described now as a terrorist state….

As the single largest expense of the 2010 foreign aid budget, President Obama approved $2.775 billion in military aid to Israel, the first payment in a decade-long commitment that will reach at least $30 billion.

In addition to military aid, the US also provides $3.148 billion in loan guarantees to Israel, part of a Treasury Department program aimed at keep Israel’s debt manageable. Ironically, though the US budget is spiraling out of control and America’s own debt continues to rise, there was no serious debate of reducing aid to Israel.  AntiWar

Now, President Obama must be given a little slack for approving the billions and billions of dollars to the “Beacon of Democracy in the Region”. Truth is, he is forced to… by law.  You see, a year ago an AIPAC writtne and supported law was passed in the congress of the United States that mandated we ensure Israel’s military advantage in the region.  Not only that, but the president is also required to come before congress each year and let them know how much work he has done to comply  with the law making Israel the strongest terrorist supporting nation in the Middle East.

America’s commitment to maintaining Israel’s qualitative military edge was codified directly into U.S. law via 2008 legislation backed by AIPAC. This legislation requires the president to report to Congress periodically on actions taken by the administration to ensure Israel’s advantage.

I have to confess that I didn’t realize that a law was enacted last year making it a legal requirement for America to maintain “Israel’s qualitative military edge,” and — even more amazingly — that the President of the U.S. is required to report regularly to the U.S. Congress on the steps he’s taking to ensure Israel’s superiority.  That’s a rather extraordinary law, and the administration seems to be fulfilling its requirements faithfully.  Glen Greenwald
